Jhansi Mahotsava was initiated under the patronage of Shri Dharmendra Dev Mishra, former Commissioner of Jhansi and the able guidance of Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, then District Magistrate of Jhansi on the 22nd of March 1993 in the Jhansi stadium. There after from 1994 to 1996, Jhansi Mahotsava was organized in the stadium premises. In the year 1996, the cultural programmes were held in the stadium but the folk Bundeli programmes took place in Rani Laxmi Bai Park. It was in the year 1997 that Ayuuveda Jhansi Mahotsava was organized at the Muktakashi stage and a small handiShilp fair was organized in the Laxmi Bai Park. Then in the year 1998, HandiShilp fair was convened by District Cultural Committee in the park and the cultural programmes were held at the Muktakashi stage.
